Every day in Gaza, people have to make the choice between trying to get food from the US and Israel-controlled aid sites and potentially being shot, or going without food and watching their families starve. Every single day people are killed by the IDF as they queue up for meager rations. Bombing hospitals, killing journalists and aid workers, bombing "safe zones", killing people who are just trying to get food to survive, all things that went from being vehemently denied by Israel to everyday occurrences that don't even get reported on half the time.

In this hellish environment, small organizations like Gaza Soup Kitchen are truly the only safe and reliable way to get food. They are struggling as well as food is inconceivably expensive if it can even be found. Many days they are truly just serving thin lentil soup. But they are still feeding people, getting them water, treating them with dignity, respect and care even as their volunteers are starving and dying alongside their communities.
